About Me

Hi there!

I’m Meltem, the creative spirit behind Luthien Art, coming to you from the vibrant city of Istanbul. Life has taken me on quite the journey, and along the way, I’ve discovered that my true passion lies in creating and sharing art that tells a story.

Art has always been my thing. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with colors, textures, and, most importantly, stories. Cross-stitch? Oh, that’s been my jam for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Turkey, cross-stitch—locally known as kaneviçe—wasn’t just a craft; it was part of our culture. I still remember our school handcraft classes, where we’d learn the basics of cross-stitch as part of the curriculum. Can you imagine? A whole class dedicated to this delicate art form! It was such a fun and creative way to spend time, and looking back, those lessons really planted the seeds of my passion.

What really lights me up now is taking that traditional foundation and giving it a modern twist—blending old-school charm with today’s vibe. It’s like paying homage to the past while letting my creativity run wild in the present.

I also have a long-running love affair with watercolor painting. There’s something magical about the way colors flow and blend, and I guess that magic sneaks its way into my designs too :)

Now, fun fact about me: while my designs are full of cheerful colors, my music taste is on the dark side. I’m all about progressive rock and metal—Dream Theater, anyone? Oh, and I might have the world’s coolest matryoshka doll collection. Yep, I’m a bit of a collector nerd.

The latest and possibly cutest chapter of my life? Becoming a proud dachshund mom! My little Jessie has basically taken over my heart (and my house), and let’s be real, she’s probably going to sneak into a design or two.

At Luthien Art, every pattern I create is a little piece of my world—a mix of passion, color, and maybe a sprinkle of dachshund mischief. I’m so glad you’re here to stitch along with me. Let’s create something beautiful, one stitch at a time!

Big hugs and colorful threads,

Meltem
